Course Rules

The following rules are to ensure the enjoyment of the game for all players.

• Tee times for daily play are taken 10 days in advance.
• Arrive at the golf course at least ten minutes before your tee time.
• All players (even permit holders) must sign in and receive a receipt for play.
• Each player must have a bag and clubs.
• 5 some are allowed only if they can keep up to the group in front of them.
• Please repair ball marks and divots, please rake sand bunkers.
• Carts should be kept 30 feet from greens and tees or on the path if provided.
• Do not play from out of bounds either on the exterior or interior of the course.

USGA Rules Govern Play

We encourage all players to abide by the USGA rules to provide a fair but enjoyable round. But we understand and encourage casual players and leagues increase the speed of play by using:

• Winter rules throughout the course
• Take your distance on out of bounds and lateral water hazards
• Use the drop zones on holes 1 and 7 after one ball (not the tee shot) enters the hazards.

Local Rules

To increase the enjoyment of the course and to protect some our features Rolling Meadows has officially adopted the following local rules as allowed by the USGA. Please consult your rule book for further information on exact wording and penalties for breach of these local rules.

STONES IN BUNKERS – Stones in sand bunkers are declared to be “movable obstructions”. Rule 24-1 will apply
YOUNG TREES – Young trees are identified by a yellow ribbon. If such a tree interferes with a players stance or the area of his intended swing, the ball must be lifted, without penalty, and dropped in accordance with the procedure prescribed in Rule 24-b (Immovable Obstruction) If the ball is in a water hazard the nearest point of relief must be in the water hazard and the ball must be dropped in the water hazard. This rule does not apply if is clearly unreasonable for the stroke to be played because of interference by anything other than the tree or interference would occur only through use a abnormal stance, swing or direction of play.
IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS CLOSE TO PUTTING GREENS - In addition to relief given for immovable obstructions (such has drain covers or fixed sprinkler heads) under Rule 24-2, additional relief is given for “line of play” of immovable obstructions that are on or within two club-lengths of the putting green. The ball shall be lifted and dropped at the nearest point of relief, a) not nearer the hole; b) avoids intervention and c) is not in a hazard or on the putting green. The ball may be cleaned when so lifted. Further if the ball is on the putting green the ball should be lifted, and placed at the nearest point where the ball lay which a) is not nearer the hole, b) avoids intervention, c) is not in a hazard.
ENVIRONMENTALLY SENSITIVE AREAS –Environmentally Sensitive Areas are identified by signs and water hazard, lateral water hazard and out of bounds stakes with green tops. Entry into these areas is not allowed. A golf ball may be retrieved only if it is view and can be reached without entering the area. The rule allows relief for interference of the sensitive area and its plant growth for a player’s stance or intended swing area as long as the ball is not in the hazard or Sensitive Area.
EMBEDDED BALL – In addition to rule 25-2, a ball that is embedded anywhere through the green, other than sand may be lifted, cleaned and dropped as near as possible where the ball lay but not nearer the hole.
DROPPING ZONES – On holes 1 and 7 there is drop zone for use after any shot except the tee shot enters the hazard. The player does not have to stand in the dropping zone but the ball must first strike a part of the course in the marked zone. The line is part of the zone.

RULES USED SEASONALLY –
WINTER RULES – A ball lying in a closely mowed area through the green may be moved or may be lifted, cleaned and placed within one clublength of where it originally lay but not nearer the hole, in a hazard or on a putting green. The ball should be marked before it is lifted. A ball may be moved or placed once, and then it is considered in play. (A sign designating summer or winter rules is displayed on the starter shack.)

Rain Check Policy

Golf as an outside sport is subject to various weather conditions. Fond du Lac County urges all golfers to keep an eye on changing weather conditions, and take shelter if threatening weather approaches.

• If a round is started in the rain, no raincheck will be given unless approved before play.
• If rain occurs during a round and the golfer chooses not to play, a full credit raincheck will be given if the golfer has played 4 or less holes. Once the golfer tees off on the 5th hole, a round is considered complete and no raincheck will be given for that 9-hole round.
• If the golf course is closed due to heavy rain or dangerous storms a golfer shall wait a minimum of 30 minutes to see if conditions improve. After that time, a full credit raincheck will be given if the golfer has played 7 or less holes. Once the golfer tees off on the 8th hole a round is considered complete and no raincheck will be given for that 9-hole round.
• If rain occurs during the first nine of an 18-hole round a raincheck will be issued for the back-9 in addition to any credit from the first-9.
