Greens & Grounds
Rolling Meadows Maintenance Department is led by David Brandenburg, Golf Course Manager and James Juoni, Assistant Golf Course Manager. In season our staff grows to 14 part time employees to help maintain the 240 acre property. When you consider greensmowers cost $20,000 and fairway or rough mowers cost $45,000 much of our time is spent training the staff on the proper use and care of the machines.
If you want more information on our course maintenance activities you can follow our blog at

Winter Time:
The golf course closed for the season on November 28th after a good fall for golf. For our staff closing includes:- Blowing out the miles of irrigation lines with a 900CFM air compressor so they do not freeze.
- Bringing in ball washers, rakes, benches and baskets.
- Washing all the equipment and taking off the reels for winter service.
- Mowing down the rough to allow the leaves to blow and reduce vole damage and snow mold in the rough.
- Spraying fungicide on the greens, tees and fairways to reduce winter snow mold damage.
- Applying a light layer of sand as a topdressing to the greens to smooth them out, reduce thatch and reduce ice and wind damage to the greens.
- Mark all the drains and culverts if we need to find them in to remove ice or debris in winter.
- Grinding over 60 reels and each year 1/3 are fully stripped down and all bearing and seals are replaced.
- Service all machines, change oil, fluids, bearings and filters.
- Building Maintenance
- Long term planning and budgeting
- Purchasing of products for the season
- Planning of agronomic programs, cultural practices, fertilizer and chemical applications.
- Education through reading and formal classes.
- Recording and submitting of required state paperwork on fertilizer use, water use and water run off observations.
- Tree trimming
- Plowing
- When that does not work out we play cards and watch TV! Just kidding but seeing if anyone actually reads this.
